A 2 hour trip to Crandon produced good species, sucha s Semipalmated, Least, and a lifer Western Sandpiper. However the Western Sandpipers had a black shoulder patch not illustrated in National Geographic. Also seen and photographed was a large flock of Spotted Sandpiper, Sanderlings, Ruddy Turnstones, and Piping and Semipalmated Plovers. A lone winter-plumaged Willet, Little Blue Heron, and some Snowy Egrets also stuck around. All these were seen on the northern-most tip of the beach, where the beach is rocky as oppose to sand. I got great photos of the Lesser Black-backed Gulls in a large flock of Laughing Gulls. I also beat Felipe's 3 Frigatebirds with a kettle of 21 soaring overhead. Felipe, if you saw the small flocks of peeps along the northern-most part of the beach, make sure you didn't over-look the Western Sandpipers, as a few were with Least Sandpipers.
A Bank Swallow ended the day flying over my house, heading south.
