I was at Crandon Beach this afternoon (2:00 - 3:30 PM) and saw the sizable flock of small terns with dark carpal bars. I initially thought they were Common Terns until got closer and saw a few adult Least Terns mixed in. When I saw that the Leasts were the same size as the terns with dark carpal bars, I realized that these were in fact juvenile Least Terns. Larry Manfredi was with me for the latter part of my visit, but he was busy taking photographs of Sanderlings and Piping Plovers, so I'm not sure if he even looked at any of the terns.
