I was there for 1/2 hour before Trey and saw or heard no sign of the Spindalis. Trey gets there with his squeaky van and immediately the Spindalises perch right over the van. I think the squeaky belt called the birds in. So, if anyone is planning to chase these birds, here are the directions. Drive to ENP and continue 4 miles to the Long Pine Key entrance. Turn left and stop. Loosen one of the belts in your car to get the right degree of squeak to them. About a centimeter should do the trick. Continue on to the Private Residence before the campground. Pull over but do not turn the car off. Wait for the bird to come.
