For what it's worth, in the late 70s and early 1980s, in what is now the Palmetto Bay area near 77th Ave and SW 144 St, I too remember lots and lots of land crabs. In fact, the Miami Herald used to regularly reprint articles about how to catch, cook, and eat them. But then again, we used to see red foxes there too :-( and birds of course (good idea Toe, to keep this bird-related). Hey, maybe that is what the Black Kite is eating... land crabs.
