Does anyone have any clue why smooth-billed anis became so rare? Their decline seems to coincide with Hurricane Andrew in 1992. I have a feeling that some of the decline might be development and/or clearing of overgrown lots, which anis seem to prefer. Why wouldn't they be in Everglades National Park?
I hope some of you avid birders are able to find the birds I saw. I doubt that they would've gone very far.
