Besides the golf course in Marathon, also try the city of Key Colony Beach. Turn on to Sadowski Causeway (around mile marker 55) and then make your first right by the post office. Keep driving straigt, pass the Key Colony Inn restaurant, and keep your eyes peeled for a vacant lot on the right. There is a small, hand made sign that says "Owl's Nest, Do not Disturb". Last time I was there, (Memorial Day weekend) there was a family of four still hanging out by their burrow. The young have fledged, but are still following mom and Dad around begging for food. They could have left the burrow by now, but the city of Key Colony Beach is a good place to look. There are several active nests there. Ask the locals where they have last seen the owls.
