A good place to try for swamphens is the S or W edge of the pond in front of the City Furniture building in Tamarac, between Mcnab and Commercial. Not your most scenic birding, but (after finding them accidentally) I have never missed them there in 5 or 6 tries. Just park in the CF parking lot, good luck.
