Snail Kites and Limpkin were recently reported from the Hole-in-the-doughnut area of ENP. Take the main road into ENP and turn left onto Royal Palm. Turn right at the sign to the Daniel Beard Research Center and continue to a stop sign. Go straight onto the dirt road to Hidden Lake. Continue on this road, and watch out for potholes, until you reach a gate (Gate 15). Walk past the gate on the dirt road. There will be a large mound about a 1/4 mile down on the right. About halfway down to the mound look for the Snail Kites over the prairie to the left (east) side. They will be hunting over the prairie or perched on short cypress trees. They like to perch low, usually between 5-10 feet above the prairie, and sometimes even lower. The Limpkin were reported from the south side of the large mound. If you have any questions, call me at 305-338-7392. Good luck.
