i still recommend kendall K-8 ("kendall elementary") school for the oriole; take oranges; it's a really neat spot, see previous posts for address. re least bittern, i saw a male just over railing at green cay, which is near wako. about 2 weeks ago; he was singing softly, photographers were walking right past him without noticing, so yes i think wako and green cay are both worth a stop, wako being maybe the best place in south florida for bird photography. good luck at fort jefferson! they discourage (prohibit!) feeding of birds there, but many of the migrants will be starving so a very discreet handful of birdseed or some mealworms would save a life or 2 -- not that i would encourage breaking the law there. ironic that water is provided for the birds, but no food. i had 2 y-b cuckoos drop out of the trees right in front of me, dead from starvation. blue grosbeaks so desperate for food that they were trying to swallow thorny seeds/burrs that were impossible to get down, etc.
