I see feral Mallards like that every day...

If they are too big (esp. big bellies), they have domestic ancestry. If the color pattern is odd, they probably either have domestic ancestry or are hybrids.

In many cases, you can't tell by looking.

However, migrant Mallards should be gone by now. Of course, that doesn't mean all of them necessarily are.
