Last week, i noticed 2 very close redwinged blackbird nests off the boardwalk at Wako. Even better was the Green Heron nest with 4-5 Easter egg - colored blue green eggs in the clutch. This is about the most accessible green heron nest i've ever seen, fairly open, just below eye level, and very very close to the boardwalk (take the left fork). Every now and then the parents will swap incubation duties and you can also observe a parent turning the eggs. A black racer was on a dried palm frond on the ground over the railing at the highest point of start of the boardwalk near the parking lot, and a 3.5 ft banded watersnake was active adjacent to the concrete crossing where the blackbellied whistling ducks have been hanging out. Good birding -ken
