Hey Ken,
Your Clapper Rail from Shark Alley (Shark Valley, maybe?) would be a King Rail in freshwater habitat. In our area, Clapper Rails can only be found southeastern Miami-Dade County and the southern Everglades. As well as saltmarsh, they can also be found in mangroves, which I find a bit interesting.
