A weekend at Everglades National Park turned up FOS Semipalmated Sandpipers at Eco Pond on Saturday and Red-eyed Vireo on Bear Lake Trail this morning. There was also a Red Knot showing traces of alternate plumage by the shore of the walk-in camping area at Flamingo on Saturday. About thirty American Avocets among thousands of other shorebirds many in alternate plumage were seen from my kayak this afternoon in the western end of Snake Bight.

The Coastal Prairie Trail is now cleared and opened to Club House Beach and I walked the twelve plus mile round trip on Saturday. I didn t see any birds that I didn t see in the Flamingo area but for those who have been wondering what it looks like west of Flamingo there is no better time to go than now. The trail is dry and insects are no problem.
