The bride gave me a few hours on Sunday afternoon to do some birding. I drove out to SWA-1 West. Amazing. Thousands of coots, in huge rafts. Is the collective name for a flock of coots a 'retirement of coots'?
I also had an American Bittern that was having a tough time hiding with the wind blowing all of the marsh grasses around. Many of the expected birds. But the best was a Greater White-fronted Goose! It was staying close to the kiosk/boardwalk along with some mottled ducks.
I hope someone can get out there soon to confirm this. I took some pics with a point & shoot--perhaps they will come out.
