Early morning birding at the Lucky Hammock puddles yielded Pectoral Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Killdeer, and Lesser Yellowlegs. I birded the area from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, focusing mainly on the puddles, waiting for any new arrivals. No Stilt Sandpipers during that time. I continued to bird the adjacent fields, including the one were David LaPuma had spotted the Upland Sandpiper a few weeks ago...no such luck today. Still, a decent day it was for just an hour of shorebirding. On a nearby powerline, one Bank Swallow was perched between several Barn Swallows allowing a great comparison between the two species.
Do I sense a "Big Shorebird Day" coming up?
Is the record 25 species in one day, or something like that?
Cheers,
Raul
