I decided to try and answer my own question about the Crecent seen at Cape Florida. It was a Phaon, aka Mat Plant Crescent, which uses Frog Fruit, Carpetweed or Creeping Charlie (phyla nodiflora) as a host and not a nectar plant as I earlier reported. Check the website at http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/IN266 for a photo and details. A.D. Barnes had several early migrants this morning (08/02/03)including Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, Black and White, Yellow-throated and Parula Warbler and Ruby-throated Hummingbird (by Bill Boeringer). White-crowned Pigeon, Brown Thrasher and Hill Myna were also seen.Life is good............knowing the power of the internet can help unravel the mysteries of nature for an amateur naturalist.Kudos to the University of Florida for this website.
