I'm no expert on orchids either, but it does look like a Florida Butterfly Orchid. there is a lot of variability in orchids. To be sure, you could send the photo to Paul Martin Brown, research associate for the University of Florida Herbarium and author of numerous books on native orchids including __Wild Orchids Of Florida__. His e-mail address (not sure if it's current) is NAORCHID@aol.com Or you could send it to Larry Richardson of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Larry is a biologist at the Florida Panther NWR in Collier County and maintains a seed bank of the native orchids of South Florida.
