In 1961, 17 Scarlet Ibis eggs from Trinidad were introduced into the rookery at Greynolds Park. They hatched, grew up and mated with the local White Ibis. For a few years thereafter Scarlet Ibis could be seen around southeast Florida, and for a few more years pink hybrids periodically were sighted. I have not seen a pink Scarlett-White Ibis in South Florida for many years (unless I drink one too many glasses of wine!).
