A trip to the sod farms on US 27 in Palm Beach County produced a pair of Upland Sandpipers at the tower.

The flooded field a mile north of the tower, so productive last weekend, has begun drying out. Most shorebirds, other than Black-necked Stilts, have departed. A few American White Pelicans could be seen in the distance.

It may be worthwile to check out the flooded fields on Miami Canal Road in the coming weeks. South of its intersection with 827 (where the red ceder hammock is), fields were flooded on both sides of the canal. One flooded field on the west side, a few miles south of the intersection, was already attracting yellowlegs.
