Hoechoka Hammock is on the grounds of Mary Help of Christian church and school. Intersection of Sawgrass and University. {Goggle 26 degrees 18 min 17 sec north / 80 degrees 14min 59 sec west}It is exactly 70 miles from US1 at homestead turn off to the ENP. The campus is the NE corner; the hammock proper is to your left as you drive into the church part. You'll see the pineland habitat on your left.

See mhoc.org and go to stewardship section and photographs for early construction. Come see what we have now. Habitats galore and many teach areas for kids and adults. The Landscape Inspectors and Installers (LIAF) are coming March 26 for a look see. We have now over 193+ native trees of every size and could well be a final exam for botany majors. We just found holly growing out of an oak and two years past we had an outstanding "witches broom" in a lancewood. A cooper's hawk is currently in residence and the raccoons are getting a bit "cheeky". Warblers are in all the oaks (we have the largest oak grove in Parkland).

I would love to show you around and bring some hairstreaks if you come. A full display of Zuxine orchids just sprang up and they are something to see. Oeceocladis are abundant and vanilla is also present. These last few days the weather has been heavenly (why not) and many visitors have strolled the area. We would be glad to have you or any of the TAS'ers come and see.
