Yesterday I saw one near the Mangrove Trail in John Pennekamp singing. I have never heard them sing before in 5 years of birding. It sounded almost like a vireo on some phrases, so I thought Black-whiskered. Just a shrike, and a group of birders I was with all needed Black-whiskered.
Still the bird let us get near it, about 4 feet away.
