I'm not sure, but I haven't heard of one in that area before. In fact, the first Caracara I've heard of in Dade County since I've been birding was the one last November at Lucky Hammock. I think the possibility exists that this bird at the landfill is the same bird that was at Lucky Hammock. That bird was hanging out with TV's, and it's entirely possible that they eventually ended up at the landfill, like so many do. The Caracara just went along with the troop.
Excellent find by the way! Nice to find one so close to home. A little closer and I'll get it as a yardbird!
