Yes Georgiana, but remember that the Carolina Parakeet nested in tree cavities while the Monk makes its nest out of sticks (I think the only psittacid that does so).
That said, your argument about the power outage potential is still valid. And I'm with Roger on the concerns of DiazaCon. Maybe I'll stick my nose around and see what I find out.
