After a second and third look at the bill I see what you are saying. I'll have to go back and look through the gulls again.
I'm sure there were several Franklins in the bunch. In my scope it was easy to see the difference in the white on the nap going high up on the head and the bill was much smaller than the Laughings around.
The photo may be of a Laughing, so I'll try again. I was truly shooting blind into the flock of gulls and then searched through the photos to find the Franklins. The photo shown is blown up 2x larger than the original...
