You are absolutely right. I still haven't learned some very expensive lessons. During the 16 years I've had my B & Gs , Lucky bird (AKA cement head) has flown several times, luckily (hence her name) she stays in the neighborhood but can't figure out how to fly down so I've had to hire bucket trucks to go up in royals to get her. I've gotten very amusing e mails from a family where a fledling blue and gold emerged from a nest and the bird's antics learning to fly properly. Apparently it isn't entirely instinct with macaws . I'm sorry you lost your bird. If it's recent I have a few tricks to lure the bird back.
