Best shorebird viewing on Crandon Beach is a rising tide. The smaller plovers finish feeding, then head to the soft sand to rest. The Snowy stays with the Wilson's (~7 this season), Dunlins and Piping Plovers. Semipalmated Plovers seem to stay as a group nearby but the Black-Bellied Plovers and Short-billed Dowitchers seem to leave, perhaps finding another area to feed or rest. Toe had a Western Sandpiper mixed in the flock recently.
