It appears to have a short tail, and is mottled. Its ears seem not as pointed as I expected a bobcat's to be, but I do agree to "downgrade" my sighting. Quite a large animal, but I have seen some pretty big bobcats in New Mexico. To keep us on the birding topic, here is my waterthrush photo
