I chanced upon a friend's copy of the latest edition (Sep 2001) of the Everglades NP bird list today. Aside from being appalled that the list is presented in aphabetical order -- "for your convenience" -- rather than in phylogenetic order, I was intrigued by the report of an escaped Jabiru. There certainly has never been a published observation of Jabiru in Florida, and the ENP report seems dubious at best. Does anybody in M-D County know the basis for the inclusion of this species on the list?
