I notice my earlier response won't open, for some reason. Anyway, most large bats I see in S. Fla. are Mexican Free-tailed. Was a tail visible behind the rear web?

There are several large colonies of these Mexican Free-Tailed Bats around, including one in the tower at the Jack D. Gordon Elementary School in Country Walk. My son-in-law recently found an ailing one on the ground near there, picked it up, and got bitten on the thumb. Then he had to get rabies shots (no fun).
