Those Le Conte's Sparrows are sneaky. If you can get to where the Le Conte's lands it'll generally be right there, but low in the grass. Then it'll walk or run low in the grass. Check the low grasses all around the general area where it landed, and look for the slightest movement. I had 8 here at Lake Jessup 2 years ago, and was able to observe their behavior for most of the winter.
