I made it down to Everglades National Park last Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with stops near the entrance on the way in and out. I haven t had time to put together a full trip report but felt I should post a few highlights from the trip.

There was a Lincolns Sparrow across the road from Lucky Hammock on Saturday morning and a Nashville Warbler at the Annex. Early that afternoon four Short-tailed Hawks were soaring over Royal Palm Hammock. On Saturday a hike down Bear Lake Road and Trail turned up a Clay-colored Sparrow along the road and a Swainson s Warbler and Philadelphia Vireo along the trail. That evening shortly after sunset five Lesser Nighthawks flew over B and C loops of the Flamingo Campground. Monday evening at around sunset three Western Kingbirds came in at the avocado grove along 212th Avenue. Mosquitoes were a nuisance in the park, especially at dawn and dusk but they weren t overwhelming, even on the trails.

I ll try to post up a more complete report with a species list in a day or two.
