Last December I paddled my fishing kayak 3-miles across West Lake (seven miles east of Flamingo) and through a creek into Long Lake, and there were three black ducks feeding about 30 yards away. I watched them for awhile and then they spooked when some canoeists came through the creek banging their paddles up against their aluminum canoe. So much for peace and tranquility.
I also saw what appeared to be two black ducks on Pine Glades Lake in ENP on a cold winter day about four years ago.
