Ran the skiff just over 100 miles today while looking for snook, redfish and birds.
-Brian Booth and I spent about 10 minutes watching a female American Black Duck floating near our skiff just north of Lostman's River. First time I've found one in South Florida. We both used to see them while birding at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in New York during our college years. Does anyone know the last time one was seen in Everglades Natl?
-There was a steady stream of falcons and accipiters heading north and south between Lostman's and Ponce De Leon Bay.
-While approaching the Buttonwood Canal boat ramp at Flamingo this evening three FOS Lesser Nighthawks were seen overhead.
-Brazilian Pepper was relatively dense on the keys around Lostmans River as well as Highland Beach. Extremely depressing...
