As far as I know, "Great White Heron" is still officially a color morph of the Great Blue Heron, but...it's perfectly okay to keep calling it Great White Heron, and...you never know when they (the proverbial "they") will be splitting it up...again. When we do our colonial nesting bird surveys, we distinguish between the two, it doesn't hurt to.

On to your second question. "Masters-of-the-Bay" Juan Valadez and Rafael Galvez have been working the Florida Bay area for several years in these counts (NAMC, Christmas Count). My hats off to them for their work, no easy task. John Boyd and Nancy Freedman worked the Keys. I beleive no one worked the Florida City area (this would've fallen under Miami-Dade), hence the lack of Common Myna in the count.
