I drove up to Sweetwater Slough this morning - via Monroe Station entrance to Loop Road. Had to double back due to water over the road (PT cruisers don't float too well) I stopped to take some shots just North of the Collier County sign when I spotted the panther. It was crossing the road East to West less than 100 feet from the car and jumped into the thicket of bushes West of the road as I moved the camera to take a shot. It has no collar and looks large enough to be a male.
Did not see deer but did see a (ONE!) hawk.
