This kind of thing is rampant in the parks of Palm Beach Co. (and probably the parks south of us as well). We have broken windows almost every month at Green Cay. Even with increased security and video cameras it is hard to catch these people. They are professionals and to watch them on camera, you understand why they're so good at it. It takes literally seconds from the time you walk out of sight to the time they break into your car and leave. The biggest thing is to keep valuables out of sight and hide your belongings BEFORE you go to the park. I've seen them break a window, pop the trunk, grab the bag you placed in there, and take off in less than 10 seconds. Definitely this is not an isolated incident. The parks are big target areas for this type of crime.
