The "raptor looking thing with a large crest that runs on its hind legs" is a Brown Basilisk, a lizard native to Central America but widespread in southern Miami-Dade County (including my yard). The Red-headed Agama is expanding its range here too, and they can be seen around Redland Elementary, Camp Owaissa Bauer, Castellow Hammock, and Fairchild Tropical Garden.

A couple of disconcerting reptiles are Nile Monitor lizards all around Homestead Air Reserve Base, and both Yellow Anacondas and Green Anacondas in the Big Cypress Preserve.
