I think Alex is correct -- Crandon Beach seems to attract Lesser Black-backed Gulls. There have been 36-38 consistently seen during the past 10 days with a high of 53 on 8/18, including 8 adults. The very dark _intermedius_ type birds have not been there since winter 2005. Great Black-backed Gulls are frequenting this beach more consistently and both gulls over-summer here in small numbers.
