Even though females don't have a conspicuous white throat patch, they still have somewhat of a buffy patch. That said, I can't remember how visible it is. Juveniles, on the other hand, have no throat patch. It's the right time of year for them too.

Males have a white band across the retrices, females and juveniles don't.

The white wing band usually covers five primaries (in other words, not all of them), and is larger on males, increasing in size (broadness) with age.
