Hi all,
Thanks in advance. Just back from our first visit to Tigertail Beach (yes, the heat was brutal, but we take our opportunities when they arise). We watched a pair of skimmers repeatedly skim one small pool. The second skimmer appeared to have adult plumage, but it was very clumsy compared to the lead bird, often hitting the water w/ its sternum before it even opened its mouth or getting pulled down by the water when it did try to feed. The question is...is skimming something that parents teach their offspring?
