new backyard bird sighted

Hello all,

The past few days we have seen a stranger to our neighborhood, a "melanistic pheasant". As far as we can tell this must be a released or lost pet bird or something. It is kind of hanging around in the vicinity of the local flock of peacocks. Checking our bird books does not indicate that we should be seeing a pheasant in Miami.

Does anyone have any more information about this?
