Picking up on Carlos Sanchez's Loxahatchee report from below, I will confirm that indeed the Snail Kite is where it is reported. The second water bin that he speaks of is south from the chickee and parking area and about 1500 yards away. It is about a 15 minute walk at a moderate pace. There is a wooden bridge that runs west from the berm (north-south) and leads to what I first imagined was a pump house but in fact appears to be an old unused photo blind. From that house we viewed the snail kite as pictured here. I can not confirm nor negate the existence of a nest. We saw just the one bird and it posed for about 25 minutes.
