This is a larger view of my kite's bands.
You were kinda close on the date, but it was actually 12/24 , or Noche Buena /Xmas eve.
Noche Buena is often celebrated with a a roast pig (mmm good)hence the vulture pic that led the post.
Gonna have to get back out there soon-multiple Snail Kites sounds great!!
