Yesterday, May 17th, among the dozen or so Snail Kites several of us saw at the Farm Road 8 Wetlands (SFWMD property just north of the Ocean Boy Shrimp Farm on CR835 in Hendry County), was this one initially photographed by Tricia Auffhammer at the same general location back on December 22, 2007 (I believe). Go here for Tricia's great photo:

The SNKI has a wire transmitter attached to its back and is banded. The bands read (left leg) 6/4 (possibly X/4 but I don't think so) in black with silver numbers. Just above those bands is a "gray" band with no numbers. (Right leg): Y/9 in black with silver numbers. We've tried to track down the banders of this bird before to try to find out the origin of the bird and hte reason behend the obvious study of this bird but to no avail. Consequently, I'm asking again for advice as to who to contact about this particular SNKI. Thanks.
