Hi all,Although we are TAS members,my wife and I generally go birding on our own and rarely get involved. However,I am very active in my profession on a national level and I have followed the feral cat issue from both the Audubon and the veterinary perspectives for many years.I just wanted to add a few thoughts to this discussion ...
1.I agree with Paddy on many levels.Expeditious completion of a formal position paper from TAS is important so that Audubon is seen as organized, objective, informed, and credible.Support from National Audubon could be solicited as well and might offer some needed perspective and persuasion to local officials.
2.Taking the position that the cats need to be removed from Barnes without establishing a clear risk to public health or alternatives to euthanasia will put public officials at odds with the public and any efforts will fail.
If a group is forming to address this issue and you would like me to volunteer, I'm in.
Regards,
Jeff
