The Red-footed Booby has been seen on my last two Dry Tortugas Tours, the last trip came in today. The best time to see the bird is about 5:00 p.m. and later. The only way to do this trip and see the bird, is to camp so that you can be there at the correct time. The bird can be seen on Long Key where the Magnificent Frigatebirds nest. It is often perched on the tallest dead trees on Long Key. Using a scope from the dock seems to be the best way to find the bird. Another option is to rent a Kayak in Key West and Kayak over. The ferry boats charge an additional fee to transport a Kayak, around $50.
