I visited Cape Florida after work today; at the youth campground as well as along the nature trail and bike path, warbler activity remained high. Most numerous were Palm Warblers (estimated 100+), followed by Common Yellowthroat (50+), Black-throated Blue Warbler (50+, all males), Blackpoll Warbler (30-40), Prairie Warbler (20-30), Ovenbird (15-20), American Redstart (15-20), Cape May Warbler (8-10), Northern Parula (2) and Worm-eating Warbler (2). A Northern Waterthrush was heard near the lighthouse. Other birds seen included Merlin, Common Ground-Dove, Gray Kingbird, Gray Catbird, and Painted and Indigo Bunting. No sign of the exotic starling.
