I sympathize. Some preliminary googling suggests that an unrestrained cat will kill about 100 birds/year. This seems low, as they will kill whatever they can when there are lots of birds around, as at fallout times. But if we suppose just 100 birds per year per cat, it seems pretty certain that some of the victims will be from declining or threatened species, which (one hopes) no reasonable person could view as less important than the cats.

Some Cat Network persons might change their views if this kind of argument were made. Maybe signs around the park letting people know would help? But anyway it would be great if the cats could be removed, whether to be euthanized or not. I have contacted the local commissioner about this (thanks to Angel and Mariel), and I hope everyone else on this list does too.
