Killdeer have begun nesting at Green Cay. This picture shows the mother leaving the nest with the single egg in back and to her left. The bumps in front of her are cypress knees. The nest is nicely hidden and her coloration fits in well with the surrounding habitat. Sure hope that the powers in charge don't flood this water area.
The nest is visible from the boardwalk so I guess we don't have to trample the lawn to see this one.
