The cats. We have this problem every year, and nothing ever gets done about it. There is only one way, as I believe that none of us are going to shoot or poison them.
What we do have, that the cat feeders do not, is an organization...TAS. We should have enough local influence to get Dade County to give us permission, as a de-facto law enforcement organization, to remove the cats from AD Barnes.
Once we are legal, nothing can stop us.
We would have to provide, and pay for the traps, bait (tuna fish is best), and transportation of captured felines to the pound.
It will take money and time. Traps are not cheap. They will have to be set up in hidden places, or else the cat-feeders will spring or steal them. Captured wildlife will need to be freed in a timely fashion. In essence, a schedule of "trap rounds" will need to be set up. People will have to volunteer transportation to the nearest shelter (Medley). Cat pee is not a pleasant thing to get in your car.
I am ready to donate the first $100 to buy some traps, and to take my turn at monitoring and transporting. Any takers?
